1.      To decide company’s name

Details of meetings

General Manager’s Address

General Manager (GM) welcomed all members and gave explanation on the assignment of choosing the best group company name for this mock company.

Matters Arising during Meeting

Ms. Khoo Chin Boon asked whether the types of company need to be decide or not. Ms. Nor Elleeiana (GM) have chatted with Mr. Muhammad Faiz (Instructor) and informed that he need the name only.

Ms. Mimi Mawar Atikah asked when the submission of company’s name and replied by Mr. Muhammad Faiz that the due date for submission of company’s name before Thursday, 27 January 2011.

Ms. Wan Naimah asked if the company’s name can be in Malay language or not. Ms. Nor Elleeiana said the suggestion first and then it can be decide whether Malay or English as long as the name is easy to be remembered and people can recall it easily. And Mr. Muhammad Faiz replied that the company’s name can be in Malay also.

Suggestion of Company’s Name

The suggestion of company’s name is summarized as below:

She also agreed with Mr. Abdulrahman Saeed Mahyoub Al-asali that company’s name need to mix and match to have good name.
2.	BioCARE	It is a name for a company that already establishes that provide expert in medical care. Interested with the word “CARE” which means that we care our client and services	Ms. Mimi Mawar Atikah	The suggestion is noted. Mr. Muhammad Faiz said it is nice name and asked for others’ suggestion.
3.	ME Group	ME stand for medical engineer or can be combined with Ms. Mimi Mawar Atikah suggestion of “CARE” that show us the care for both medical and engineering part.	Ms. Ummi Kalthum	The suggestion is noted.
4.	MedCare	A name that can reflects the personality, vision, inspiration and leadership of management team. A name that rises to the top of the competitive marketplace and shines like a beacon to announce your brand. A name that is unique, available and legally clean. Agree with the word “CARE”.	Ms. Nur Syazwani	The suggestion is noted. Mr. Abdulrahman Saeed Mahyoub Al-asali do not agreed in the statement that a name that reflects the personality, vision, inspiration and leadership of management team as customers never look at the name of the company as their first encouragement to purchase from or deal with because they will look after the profession and quality of the services offered.
5.	One for all technologies	It is general because the types of company have not decided yet and one for all means that our service or product can be delivered to all people.	Ms. Wan Naimah	Ms. Nur Syazwani said need to pick general name so it will reflect on what tasks that will be given and it will be interesting to have name  that can be related to company’s name. Ms. Nor Elleeiana and Mr. Muhammad Faiz explained that proposing the name first and then the types of problem that need to be solved. Ms. Nor Elleeiana said that position will be reconstructed and upgraded to suit the problem that will be given. Mr. Abdulrahman Saeed Mahyoub Al-asali said if the name can be shortened, it will be more effective and suitable for customers to be familiar with.
6.	Synergy	Synergy is where different entities cooperate advantageously for a final outcome. In business meaning, it means that teamwork will produce an overall better result than if each person was working toward the same goal individually. The name may not relate to biomedical as long we arrange them in good combination.	Ms. Mimi Mawar Atikah	Ms. Nor Elleeiana agreed that the name may not related to biomedical as example of Mr. Azman company’s name which is next level technology that did not contained anything that related to biomedical although it is a clinical engineering consultant. But if by putting “Bio” or “Medical”or “Care” word to the company name that everyone have agreed upon it, then it can be company’s name.
7.	SynCare	Combination from synergy and care suggested by Ms. Ms. Mimi Mawar Atikah.	Mr. Muhammad Faiz	Ms. Nor Elleeiana have searched that there is a company named by SynCare but agreed that it is a nice name already and want to modified a little bit.
8.	SynMedex/ SynCarex	SynMedex stand for Synergy and Medical experts. The reason putting expert is to show that each of us is very professional. Meanwhile SynCarex stands for synergy and healthcare experts.	Ms. Ong Siow Zhen	The suggestion is noted. Mr. Muhammad Faiz said it is superb cool idea. Ms. Ummi Kalthum also agreed with Ms. Ong Siow Zhen. Ms. Nor Elleeiana have modified to SynMedEx which pronounces as sinmedex abbreviate from “synergy”, “medical” and “expert”. Ms. Ong Siow Zhen, Mr. Den Vensent David, Ms. Ummi Kalthum, Mr. Abdulrahman Saeed Mahyoub Al-asali, Ms. Wan Naimah and Ms. Liew Sieh Fang gave their vote for SynMedEx. But Ms. Nor Elleeiana do not really prefer SynMedEx as there is word of “medical” which can restrict our service or product only within the medical. But all votes will be counted. As for Ms. Liew Sieh Fang, the word “med” can be change the meaning which for example like media but it depends on majority opinion also.
9.	MindStop	The basic concept is providing customers the best quality of service and consultantion. It is the best choice for customers to step into (stop) as well as to share their satisfaction/dissatisfaction (mind) on the product. So, overall the company can be place to fulfill the needs of every customer.	Ms. Liew Sieh Fang	Mr. Muhammad Faiz said it sounds weird but it is nice try. Ms. Nor Elleeiana said that all of the suggestion are noted and have modified a little bit to get good combination.
10.	trustedBRAND	We still do not decide the types of company yet.	Mr. Den Vensent David	The suggestion is noted. Ms. Nor Elleeiana said it is the name of an award by reader’s digest.
11.	SynExCare	The “care” word quite promising as we care for our service quality to the client which no matter what concept it is. Pronounces as “sinexcare”, abbreviate from “synergy”, “expert” and “care”	Ms. Nor Elleeiana	Ms. Nor Elleeiana, Ms. Mimi Mawar Atikah, Ms. Khoo Chin Boon, Ms. Nur Syazwani and Mr. Tan Kok How voted for SynExCare. Ms. Khoo Chin Boon said the company task is to solve problems for others, so, the word “care” is more suitable and Ms. Nur Syazwani also agreed with her. Mr. Tan Kok How said listen like care with power name.

So, it is really tough vote for two names that are “SynMedEx” and “SynExCare” because it is 6 versus 5 votes which count as 50-50 because in group, we have only 11 members. Therefore, a face-to-face meeting needs to have to decide on company’s name and also time slot for everyone to be in spectrum to discuss. The meeting is held on Thursday 27 January 2011 after photo shoot session at 12PM near to BIOMEMS laboratory.

Face-To-Face Meeting

It have been decided that “SynExCare” will be company’s name as there are more than 8 votes during meeting which made it majority decision. On face-to-face meeting also, we have decided to have a time slot in spectrum to discussed all matters and problems related to our mock company. The time is between 10PM until 11PM every day except Saturdays and Sundays.

Encouragement from Instructors 

Dr. Nur Azah said SynExCare is a cool name and looking forward to our further progress meanwhile Mr. Muhammad Faiz congratulated us and wished us all the best by remembered us one of the Program Education Outcome (PEO) is “to produce confident graduates with biomedical engineering competency and with soft-skills to become effective managers and leaders for the nation and for humanity.”
